General

When is Kunstnacht?

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Kunstnacht returns with renewed energy!

Kunstnacht starts at 7:00 PM and continues until 1:00 AM.

What is Kunstnacht?

Kunstnacht is an evening full of unique experiences in which surprising combinations of Nijmegen and regional art institutions show what they have to offer in an accessible festival format to a wide audience. By making an unusual mix of participating parties, exciting crossovers with art in all disciplines are created. Kunstnacht challenges makers and organizations to step outside the box and thus give art a special stage.

Is Kunstnacht for free?

An e-ticket is required to attend the Kunstnacht programme. Your ticket will be scanned and exchanged for a wristband. With this wristband, you will have access to all participating venues.

Buy your ticket via this link.

Is Kunstnacht inside or outside?

The program at the participating locations takes largely place inside the venues. You will also occasionally be surprised outside around the participating locations!

From what age do you advise Kunstnacht?

There is no minimum age for the Kunstnacht programme. It mainly depends on your child's interest and attention span. There is no special children's program. However, some program components may appeal to young visitors. View the line-up for this.

Program

What's on the program during Kunstnacht?

For our 14th edition, 54 cultural partners at indoor venues and 11 artists at outdoor locations come together for an evening filled with art, performance, dance, music, film, technology and spoken word.

Where can I find the program?

The full programme can be found online and in the app. Programme flyers are available in the lead-up to Kunstnacht and on the evening itself, featuring a map and an overview of all participating organisations. The flyers are available at participating venues in the days leading up to Kunstnacht. You will also receive a flyer when you collect your wristband.

Do you have to limit yourself to 1 zone?

You can create your own route entirely, or let yourself be inspired by different areas, where programmes take place close to one another. You don’t need to make a reservation for any of the programmes. It also doesn’t matter where you start or finish.

The charm of Kunstnacht lies in the discovery. You never know exactly what you’re going to encounter. You might find yourself in a space you’ve never been to before, discover a hidden spot in the city, or see a completely different side of a familiar building.

That sense of the unexpected is what Kunstnacht is all about. The programme deliberately takes place not only in Nijmegen’s familiar concert halls, theatres and cinemas, but also in unusual and sometimes surprising places throughout the city.

And perhaps most importantly: it’s impossible to see everything. There’s simply too much happening to experience it all in one evening. So don’t worry too much about planning. Let yourself wander from place to place and see where your curiosity takes you.

Not knowing what you’re going to encounter. That is Kunstnacht.

Is there a Night Party this year?

No, Kunstnacht is not organising a Night Party this year. But don’t worry! After Kunstnacht, head to one of the bars in the city centre, at the Honig site or on the NYMA site, and keep the evening going in style.
