Over the past 4 years, I have made food the focal point of my work, which came to the fore when I moved to The Netherlands to study. I realised that food could be a communicator and a way to establish connections.It surprised me that Dutch eating culture was often governed first by the idea of sustenance rather than enjoyment, unlike in my home country of Korea. Surrounded by an international group of people, it was interesting to see how everyone responded to a new food context while still practising and at the same time adapting their familiar eating habits. Food intersects countries, cultures, histories and generations, and has the ability to bring people together and bridge differences.
