LINDENBERG x THEATER OOSTPOOL

Dutch class society on the chopping block.
In The Drama, director Florian Myjer dissects our class society with humour and painful honesty. Because the idea that the Netherlands supposedly has no class divisions? That story is long outdated. However hard you work, the place where you were born still very often determines how life turns out for you.
At a prestigious university, a passionate teacher starts a module with a class on class, privilege and social mobility. The teacher is not entirely unbiased. What begins as an idealistic project quickly becomes personal and painful. Because as soon as the students examine their own backgrounds and each other’s, shame, blind spots and hidden anger come to the surface.
The Drama is a disruptive tragicomedy performed by actors from diverse backgrounds. Their own experiences of moving up, adapting and exclusion form the heart of the story. Personal and razor-sharp. In your face. Hilarious. And uncomfortably familiar.
During Kunstnacht, director Florian Myjer and the cast members will give a first preview of The Drama. Straight from the rehearsal room.
