Feeling Your Way Through Youth Culture

In a world ruled by images, we ask: how do you experience youth culture, social media, and visual identity if you are visually impaired or blind? Together with young collaborators from muZIEum, we explore both the visible and invisible sides of our time. Through interviews and conversations, we dive into questions such as: how do you describe a color you’ve never seen? What does visual identity mean without sight? And what does youth culture feel like?
Fashion designer Mirthe Engelhart translates these young people’s personal stories into unique garments, tangible statements that give them a voice in a world often focused on vision.
At Extrapool, visitors step into a different sensory reality: a scene experienced as if you were visually impaired, using touch, hearing, and imagination to engage with the work.
The result is a compelling and inspiring art project that invites a new way of seeing, feeling, and understanding.
