About Pride & Prejudice

Jane Austen's world-famous novel Pride and Prejudice is a true classic and considered a feminist masterpiece. Not only was the author a woman, but the book also presented the "ordinary" woman to a wide audience in the early nineteenth century. Generations grew up with this story, and it formed the blueprint for a series of highly successful romantic comedies of the 1990s. But, with today's perspective, these retellings paradoxically contribute to problematic ideas about the roles of both women and men. It's high time, then, to make Pride and Prejudice the social powder it was upon its release.

Pride & Prejudice is a grateful nod to Jane Austen and a challenging attack on problematic social systems, with three male actors taking on all the roles. With a flair for costume drama, they brute forcefully uproot the roots of patriarchy. Still festive and frivolous, but also uncompromising, vulnerable, and contemporary.
