During Kunstnacht, BLIK and Cultuur Academy take you on a route along performances, music and visual arts at the Honigterrein. In the stage hall of BLIK, the factory hall and the outdoor area you will discover a program in which stillness, energy, appearance and reality constantly alternate.

Eva Julia and Luc Voss – LAYERS

A seemingly perfect household tutorial slowly derails into a ritual performance about protection, control and vulnerability. Central is the onion: an everyday object that, peeled layer by layer, leads to the core and to emotion.

In LAGEN, Eva Julia and Luc Voss investigate how we build shields – of clothing, habits and daily actions – to keep our own in a world that seems to be getting harder and harder. But what remains when that protection slowly disappears?

With a strong visual language, repetitive rituals and a live soundscape of techno and electronic sounds by Luc Voss, LAGEN moves between protection and exposure, repetition and suffocation and control and surrender.

Boter bij de Vis

Boter bij de Vis is a stubborn Nederpop duo from Arnhem with Tobias Tempelman and Anne-Roos van der Meijden. Their self-produced songs, full of pop and hip-hop influences, are about conflicting feelings and the search for lightness in confusing times.

With sharp lyrics, compelling beats and an energetic live show, they make you laugh, think along, move along and there is room to go with the whole venue as low as your bank balance: quite low.

Arun

Arun Gastreich is a Nijmegen DJ and producer who has been active in the electronic music scene for years. As a resident of Planet Rose and Open Source Radio, he has developed widely and you can have seen him run in almost every place.

His sound moves between hypnotic techno and driving grooves. For Arun, music is a physical experience: something that sets you in motion and connects people on a deeper level. From a love for deep rhythms and subtle details, he combines old and new records, with great attention to flow and tension building. In his sets, he does not look for intensity for the intensity, but for moments that feel intimate, compelling and emotionally charged.

Sofie Rosalien Deen - Embodiment of No & Britt Kloosterman - RAEN Field Note: Entry 02

The old factory hall continuously shows the work of photographer and poet Sofie Rosalien Deen and fashion designer Britt Kloosterman.

Experimental photographer and poet Sofie Rosalien Deen creates work in which she explores the line of discomfort. Inspired by sociology, psychology and themes such as the subconscious, dreams, the body and stigma, she investigates in her project Embodiment of No how women physically experience and communicate boundaries. Because how do you embody a limit when your 'no' is only heard three times?

Fashion Designer Britt Kloosterman explores the relationship between nature, memory and the body. From memories of her grandparents' garden, Britt translates the shapes, textures and transience of plants into textiles and clothing. Fragile knitwear, silk, brushed wool and dried flowers come together in a growing archive of materials, memories and observations. Like a herbarium that is stored not on paper, but on the body.

Jelle Mastenbroek - Chair Dance

Walk further through the factory and see the theatrical installation Chairs Dance: two converted stand-on-chairs moving to classical music. A dance that depicts a society that, despite diminishing means, tries to maintain the rhythm. A search for balance in an ageing world, for balance in a future where older people are not on the sidelines, but play a leading role.

Jelle Mastenbroek uses humour and positivity in his work to rethink stereotypes and bring about social reflection or change. In his interactive installations, he uses iconic objects that convey a story or message due to their symbolic significance.
