In collaboration with Waalhalla, FLINTA*movement presents: RAGE - A fiery performance by the initiative of Women's Scholers José and Tanja. In RAGE, we transform anger and powerlessness, and let visitors feel the power of connection and creativity. Based on a piece by Canadian Conductor Katarina Gimon, with nonsensical syllables. Performed by FLINTA*s: Female/Feminist, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, Agender and all like hearted people.

FLINTA* RAGE – Queer at the Kunstnacht. Because we’re not just going to sit back and wait quietly for things to get better again. FLINTA* people are making themselves seen and heard in a raw programme full of surprises, art and passionate activism.

Isis Germano – Spoken word

The FLINTA*RAGE performance is kicked-off with a spoken word by Isis Germano (she/they). This spoken word is a poem, a fragmented analysis of what we are facing as FLINTA*s, and a celebration of anger as a force of commitment, of discernment, of love, and of care.

Isis Germano is a dramaturg, writer and researcher. As a researcher she works with performance research, feminist perspectives and queer theory. As an educator they work to create space, insight and love for queer and feminist joy and for the other-than-white experience in the Netherlands, and to make as much headway as we can on cultures of contempt, violence and exploitation.

FACES of FLINTA* RAGE

This art installation gives a face to FLINTA* anger and powerlessness. Louise Verbree of Seesaw Productiesphotographed and filmed the faces of queer and FLINTA*s in Nijmegen. In doing so, she captures our anger and powerlessness, but also the diversity and strength of this often underrepresented group of people.

Louise Verbree is active in the (Nijmegen) art and culture scene and champions the queer community through music videos and art projects. Living and working in unique venues in Nijmegen, such as Villa Lila and De Vrouwenschool, have had a profound influence on her thinking about community life, creativity and social connection.

FLINTA* 101 : what you get, is what you see

Everything you always wanted to know about FLINTA* but didn’t dare to ask.

What does FLINTA* stand for? Who are the people whose lives lie behind a letter? How do they grapple with a system – a heteronormative, patriarchal paradigm – in which we all live? What challenges do they face as people who are different yet also exactly the same – as parents, partners, neighbours, colleagues and fellow citizens?

We, for example, aren’t ashamed of our beautiful vulvas, so why do we still talk about schaamlippen? Say it with us: V U L V A L I P S. The inner and outer ones and all equally beautiful and stunning. Just like the clitoris – so many people don’t actually know what it looks like or how it works. Clitoriture and other PUSSY matters – we’d love to chat to you about these whilst we give your outfit a makeover, under one of our screen prints!

Violence doesn’t solve anything, but then again, neither does doing nothing! Bring all your Queer, FLINTA* and Ally anger and frustration with you. Let’s smash all the walls that keep us from loving and understanding one another!
