Flux Piano Nr. II – Sinus presenteert Ping-Pong in RUIS

Sinus, noise... these are two elements that almost every sound artist works with. It's therefore not surprising that these two art organizations are joining forces to present an artwork centered around electronic sounds.
Flux Piano No. II invites the audience to a playful musical experience, inspired by Flux Ping-Pong (Maciunas, 1976) and referencing Raaijmaakers' Ping-Pong (1983). On a ping-pong table made from a disassembled piano, two participants play a game of rhythm and melody.
The piano's strings form the playing field, along with two wooden panels that form the sound box. As the game unfolds, built-in microphones capture every touch, bounce, and movement of the ball on this ping-pong table. These sounds are recorded live onto tape, which simultaneously sends recordings of a previously played game back into the room.
This creates a continuous sound composition, in which players have a choice: do they play with or against the previous musicians?
