What happens when the city turns into one big cultural playground for a single night?
With 54 cultural partners at indoor locations and 11 artists with an outdoor program, Kunstnacht forms a journey of discovery through Nijmegen. From factory hall to theater, from gallery to music venue. From hidden locations to iconic buildings.
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, between 7:00 PM and 1:00 AM, our 14th edition presents an evening full of art, performance, dance, music, film, technology, and spoken word.
At dozens of locations, visitors can enjoy exhibitions, installations, workshops, performances, and special collaborations between creators and cultural organizations from the Nijmegen region.
A program so packed that you cannot possibly see it all in a single evening.

Discover more inside & outside the clusters
This year's Kunstnacht program is divided into six clusters
- Mariënburg
- Honig
- NYMA
- Keizer Karelplein
- De Lindenberg
- De Kaai
Additionally, the map is divided into two extra filters, making it easy to find the additional program between the locations.
The fringe program consists of public programs at outdoor locations, and the intermediate locations are indoor locations outside the clusters.

- Fringe program
Within these clusters, you will find the participating locations along with their corresponding programs. Your wristband gives you access everywhere.
We have organized the program into clusters so you can easily see which locations are close to each other and plot your own route through the city, or simply let yourself be surprised.
New this year: more to experience in every cluster
This year, there is more to experience in each cluster than just the program inside the participating locations. Art in public spaces, hospitality venues, educational activities, and outdoor programs ensure that every cluster gets its own unique character and that there is plenty to do even between program items.
Extra fringe program at outdoor locations
Eleven artists present their work on streets, squares, and other public spots throughout the city. This way, there is plenty to discover along the way from one location to another.
For instance, the installation Macroplastics by Vera Meulendijks can be seen in the Valkhofpark. After previous presentations at Best Kept Secret Festival and Kaapstad in Tilburg, Macroplastics now appears in the public space of Nijmegen during Kunstnacht.
Four short dance films by dance collective 155 can also be viewed at Mariënburgplein near LUX Open Air.
Curious about all the artworks, performances, and other program elements in public spaces? Check out the full fringe program here.

Continuous program & Performance times
When you select one of the clusters, you will immediately see all participating locations along with their corresponding programs in that area, including the start and end times.
Does a program show 7:00 PM–1:00 AM as its start and end time? Then it is a continuous program. You can join at any time during these hours.
Are multiple times listed for a program? For example, 8:00 PM–8:30 PM and 8:45 PM–9:00 PM? Then the program works with time slots. Make sure to arrive before the indicated start time, as you may no longer be able to enter after it begins.
Kunstnacht tip: also check the program booklet (which you will receive when picking up your wristband) for a handy schedule with the performance times of all programs per cluster.
Additionally, download the Kunstnacht app so you can stay up to date with the latest developments and notifications during the evening.

How do you get between the Kunstnacht locations?
Wander pleasantly on foot from location to location, hop on your bike, or get a free ride with special Kunstnacht transport. On the map, you will find bicycle parking areas and all the stops for the Kunstnacht Solar Train and the "Eendjes" (Citroën 2CVs).
Kunstnacht Solar Train
Especially for Kunstnacht, a solar-powered train runs between various locations in the city. The route passes by the NYMA grounds, Honig, Hertogstraat, De Kaaij, Molenstraat, and Joris Ivensplein, among other places.
Check the map for the exact stop locations. At each stop, you will find a sign with the estimated departure times. These times can also be found in our FAQ.
You can experience art right on the train, too! Artist Bart Pols transforms the Solar Train into an exhibition space. Experience art on the go.
Through the city with the Eendjes
During Kunstnacht, cheerful Eendjes (vintage 2CVs) will also be cruising around, provided by Eendenverhuur NYMA. The Eendjes follow the same route as the solar train. Just missed the train? Then you might get lucky: who knows, an Eendje might just drive by to take you to your next Kunstnacht location!
Good to know: Diversion Honig and NYMA Waalplein
Honig site
Due to foundation work at the entrance of the Honig site, access has temporarily changed. Check the map below for the best way to reach the site. On location, the alternative route is indicated by green arrows.
NYMA site, Waalplein
The route to Waalplein on the NYMA site has also temporarily changed. The passageway under NYMA Makersplaats is closed due to renovation work. Check the map below for the most convenient route to Waalplein and follow the green arrows on site.

Let yourself be surprised
The charm of Kunstnacht lies in the discovery. You never know in advance exactly what you will encounter. Perhaps you will end up in a space you have never been to before, discover a hidden spot in the city, or see a completely different side of a familiar building.
That very unexpectedness is what Kunstnacht is all about. The program intentionally takes place not only in Nijmegen's well-known concert halls, theaters, and cinemas, but also in unique and sometimes surprising locations throughout the city.
And perhaps most importantly: it is impossible to see everything. A program so full that you cannot see it all in a single evening. So, let go of your schedule a bit, wander from place to place, and see where your curiosity takes you.
Not knowing what you are going to encounter. That is Kunstnacht.
