GRONDLAB x FESTIVALHUIS

Grondlab and Festivalhuis take you on a journey: climb mountain peaks, hide among the trees, and take a dip in the ocean. In this interactive installation, you walk along various distant and well-known natural landscapes with the water: feel the clay between your fingers, listen to the rain on the foliage and take a good look around you, because there is more to discover. Is there an orchestra between the drops? Are there poems on the river? Get lost and see if you can discover all the secrets.

Flower ornamental artist Mirjam Blaauw (1975) and writer Maartje Franken (2000) build a poetic installation about the water cycle in collaboration with Go Short and Music Meeting. The installation explores themes such as colour, transience, and rituals. Creator Helen Weeres advised and supported Maartje Franken and Mirjam Blaauw in designing and realising the installation.

Mirjam Blaauw (1975) is a VO teacher Green and floral artist. Mirjam makes frying work in which she explores sustainability, didactics, and minimalism. She shares her work on the Instagram @groenjuffie.

Maartje Franken (2000) is a writer and sociologist. She mainly writes prose, with a dystopian undertone, in which she explores alienating systems, people, and their relationships to each other and the world. She writes both adult and youth literature. With her work she appeared in, among others, De Revisor, Deus Ex Machina, Kluger Hans, Maartje sit in the development process of Wintertuin.

Helen Weeres has a background in poetry and literary and cultural analysis, and works in the (investigative) arts together with regenerative farmers, scientists and other artists. Helen's practice is fuelled by poetry and a fascination with artefacts and instruments that inspire regenerative interactions between humans and a broader ecosystem. Themes such as human-inclusive ecosystems, disappeared (pagan) rituals, folklore, queer ecology and human-soil relationships are often central to Helen's sensory poems, performances, installations and (inter)active meetings.
